Izet Bučo left Bosnia and Herzegovina barely alive and two days ago he won an Oscar

Izet Bučo left Bosnia and Herzegovina at the beginning of 1994, being evacuated from Goražde due to his medical condition by UN.

He had the luck of being rescued and moved to Italy and then United Kingdom where he got adequate medical care for the injuries he suffered from the shell damage. He was barely alive at that time. Doctors were not sure if he is going to pull through.

His shoulder was replaced by metal implants, his fingers amputated. He also had remains of shrapnel in his head. After numerous surgeries, he managed to recover and start a new life.

Later on, Izet enrolled to school of multimedia graphics and slowly set off his career.

He started working on movie post-production, in particular rotoscoping, 2D compositing and visual effects.

Famous movies that Izet worked on include Harry Potter, Robin Hood, Pirate of Caribbean, several James Bond movies, X-Men, Maleficent, Mission Impossible, Lion King, Ad Astra and 1917.

Two days ago Izet Bučo, together with his colleagues at 92nd Academy Awards ceremony won three awards for the movie “1917” and the award for best visual effects among others.

Bučo made all Bosnians proud and once again proven his place among the best in Hollywood.
